ABOUT ME!
Darren Charles began performing at the tender age of 5 in Dulwich at local Theatre shows and Carnival competitions at The Notting Hill Carnival. Ten years later studied dance at South London Dance School and John Ruskin College. He later gained a scholarship for vocational training at The Urdang Academy where he trained extensively in Acting, Singing and Dance.
Since graduating with honours Darren has played leading roles in many shows both on the West End and around the World, such as Carmen Jones, Five Guys Named Moe, Bollywood Nights, The Screams Of Kitty Genovese, A Harlem Dream, Sister Act, Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Guys & Dolls, An Evening Of Burlesque and is known for his performance as the iconic Sammy Davis Jr. in The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas and other Rat Pack shows around the globe.
Darren is also known in the Cabaret scene as his alter ego Mr Saucy Davis Jr. Hosting and performing each weekend in some of the UK's top Cabaret venues Phoenix Arts Club, Gin House Burlesque, Crazy Coqs, The Windmill Theatre, Restaurant Ours, Daisy Green Collection, Kindred and much more. He has also Produced and Directed his own successful Cabaret show
Darren has also performed for historic events and places such as The London 2012 Olympics Opening Ceremony, The National Theatre’s 50th Anniversary of Black Theatre & most recently The Orient Express.
He is also a founding member of UK Hip Hop Dance company BirdGang and still collaborates with them on projects. He can be seen and heard in Commercials, Music Videos, Studio Recordings, Bollywood films, Hollywood films, Musicals, Rock Operas, Cabaret and Television across the UK.
