Its been a long time since my last blog and since then I've been very busy completing some awesome UK tours and residencies. Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat starring the lovely Joe McElderry as Joseph and myself as his Calypso Brother Asher was the first of my adventures. I had such a blast with these guys with our 10 show weeks around the UK (no time to shave in Canaan but Colgate smiles all round).
My second adventure was one that made History the second all black cast ever to perform Guys & Dolls in the world since 1976 and the first in the UK ever. What an experience bringing such a classic show to The Streets of Harlem at The Royal Exchange, Manchester. Also my first time performing a Musical in The Round not to mention having the honour of meeting and performing for The Earl of Wessex Prince Edward and the lovely Barbados High Commissioner Guy Hewitt memories I shall never forget.
Before I could even unpack my bags or reflect on my time in Manchester I was off again on tour for 6 months with a show I hold very dear to my heart, The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas as Sammy Davis Jr. The first time I played Sammy Davis Jr was when I was 22 I didn't know much about the worlds greatest entertainer but from that first CD/DVD is was hooked for life. I read his biographies, traveled across America and at times literally walked in his foot steps performing at the same theatres. This UK tour was a special tour, 9 years from when that journey began from looking in The Stage Paper at Huskeys Studios (Ivan Blackstock will remember) up until now The Rat Pack has been a large part of my life taking me all over the world.
